Just going to head out the door to host the first Coffee Morning here in Edinburgh, at Centotre.
There's been a great response from the web/blog community, and if everyone shows it'll be great.
(Actually if only a few people come, I'll be just as delighted.)
I'm a wee bit nervous actually, a bit like the first day of term at a new school.
Will the new boys and girls like me?
Will I make any lifelong friends, will there be any bullies there, is my new satchel, (read briefcase), scuffed up enough.
Will the tuck be okay.
(I know what you're thinking: 'OK Mike, enough of that, we get the message. Now get your arse out the door, and report back later.')
I really enjoyed this morning. For me it was all new faces and also felt like a first day at school, but was happy to see that we all share the same opportunities, thrills and, occasionally, disappointments. I'll be up for a regular event and the idea of a fiver each is not a bad one at all.
In a month's time (early March) there will also be the BarCampScotland for the first time and all the creatives and programmers from this morning would fit right in. (Google it to sign up or email me).
Thanks, Mike. A real pleasure!

Cheers Mike
Great fun this morning. I'd be up for the suggestion above regarding paying each time we come along. . . Hopefully regularly?
The community in Edinburgh is so small, It turns out Johnny - Tim's developer colleague - knows my brother in law and I've been mountain biking with him previously . . . Spooky!
I particularly liked the way in which the Education sector was not only using but promoting and developing social media, cool stuff . . . (Note to self - create my sons weblog for his 3rd birthday)
If anyone has an idea for a domain name and is interested I'd be willing to set-up and host our own weblog with multiple accounts .

Enjoyed this morning, albeit briefly. Inevitable that the first one would be more a catch up of old friends and a meeting of new, as opposed to discussing web/blog issues, but there's no harm in that. I'm certainly up for being a regular - work permitting!
A suggestion: We each pay, say, a small sum (a fiver perhaps?) each time we come along (collected by Mike) which will cover coffee and a bacon buttie or equivalent, we then won't all have to pay individually when we leave. Any surplus can go towards a night out for us all!
Thoughts?
