I've never been totally convinced by the hoopla and hype that surrounds SecondLife.
To my mind, the jury is still out. (Although I do applaud the brands and agencies that have dived in and are giving it a go. Because hey, you never know. If you don't buy a ticket, you don't win the lott...etc, etc.)
I joined a few months ago, created an avatar, which to be honest looked more like the lead singer of an 80's heavy-metal band than my actual suave, debonair, Cary Grant like reality. (If you believe I actually do look like that, you'll believe anything.)
I did a lot of flying around, and sitting around typing wildly in the air at nothing, (am I the only one who thinks this looks ridiculous and stupid?) Oh and I got threatened and sworn at by some neo-Nazi's when I tried talking to a girl one time, when I was wandering around hopelessly lost. (The 'neo-nazi' was probably in reality a bespectacled Sunday school teacher from Barnsley, the 'girl' a 48 year old truck driver from Texas.)
Anyhow, I didn't hang about and teleported myself out of their as quickly as I could.
Thing is, I've always found SecondLife a totally unsatisfactory experience.
It looked kind of crap in there, and I wasn't really bothered about spending the time to get any good at being a SL citizen.
And I suppose that's why I smiled when I came across the SecondLife piss-take above.
Encouraging people to actually engage in a, er, 'Get a First Life.'
It's a pity they've only put one page up, and the links go nowhere, it could be a wonderful satire.
Good point Ewan. Actually, I'll put up a BCS post in the next few days. See if we can entice any of the advertising, marketing and design community to come along.

I, too, am yet to be convinced about SL as a) entertaining or b) a potential learning opportunity. I've tried and failed to find hard evidence of large numbers of active Lifers:

but look forward to being convinced at the BarCampScotland where a couple of SecondLifers are going to share their experiences.
